EVELYN MEADOWS
This was an unfortunate and too often seen scenario in the construction industry of where the developer, under-bid to get the project, spent too much money on the building and left little to none for the landscape. When our clients came to us they had large tree species planted 5' away from their building, insufficient irrigation, and dried up grass. We had a very limited budget and were given the task to beautify the space and minimize the maintenance cost, which was extremely high, partly due to the steep slope. We transplanted the trees endangering the buildings, added fruiting and flowering trees and shrubs. We used hydro seed method to seed the entirety of the slopes with wild flowers. This allows for a 4 season garden that does not dry out in the summer and eliminates the need to mow every 2 weeks. Now they can mow once, at the end of October, and have a beautiful wildflower meadow from March to October. The trees provide seasonal interest and our client’s building is protected from potential root and branch damage.

“Our Strata Council contracted Alina Gardens to design and re-plant a portion of our landscaping, which was neither effectively designed nor properly installed by the developer. In order to minimize maintenance and watering costs, we needed to undergo a substantial renovation.
Alina was able to understand our needs of reducing maintenance costs along with recommending a plan that included trees, shrubs and bushes that are native to the west coast and will thrive in our climate. The result is astounding with a wonderful variety of deciduous and coniferous trees, colourful shrubs and berries, and suitable low growth ground cover that are planted to allow for a lush appearance and privacy for our homes.
Alina's thorough and professional approach included several initial meetings and visits to discuss and agree upon the most viable and cost effective plan. She also was very careful to ensure that post-install care instructions were clearly laid for us and for our landscaping maintenance contractors. As a result of Alina's understanding of our needs and the greatly improved design, plant selection, soil and fertilizer application, and follow up service, we can now enjoy an attractive and low maintenance view that encourages all, including the local birds and bees, to enjoy our property.”
